How To Get Healthy Nails

Have you ever noticed when you have had a big week(s) or you are super stressed, your hormones start playing havoc, so to make yourself feel better, you indulge with your favourite tipple? No? Ok, just me then.

When this happens, I know I’m not getting the right amount of nutrients for my body to glow. Not only does my skin let me know, my nails are also a tell-tale sign- becoming dry, brittle and breaking easily.

Not pretty, I know, so I’m out here, looking for the quickest solution to reverse this state of sad affairs. After problem solving by naturally increasing my veggie and water intake, this can take up to 1 week to notice the effects on my skin, I give it a little boost by taking good quality supplements to help maintain strong and health nails.

Below are 5 ways to help maintain those beautiful nails, you might see a difference on your skin as well.

1.     Eat a nutritious balanced diet

Foods helps maintain strong healthy nails and body. Foods that are high in protein, collagen and fibre are essential. Non animal products such as nuts, vegetables dairy free alternatives are great sources of protein and fibre.

2.     Drink water

It goes without saying but drinking water and staying hydrated is essential for your overall health and especially for your nails. Without enough hydration your nails can become brittle and dry and break easily. Keep fun by adding lemon, mint, cucumbers or blueberries to your water.

3.     Supplements

Taking good quality supplements are a great way to boost the minerals and nutrients your body doesn’t absorb from your diet. Consult with your health care practitioner prior to taking any supplements to ensure it is safe for you.

4.     Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

Keep your hands moisturised after washing with a hydrating hand cream or lotion helps to keep your nails strong and healthy especially in winter when there is less moisture in the air.

5.     Use a nail treatment

Using an all in one nail treatment infused with nourishing oils like the Nourished Hands™. A nude shade such as Rose or Debby can help with sealing in the moisture on your nails. If you are feeling daring, try the Lauren or Pamela.
